The Great Curtis Organ at Irvine Auditorium
01/28/2011
Dear Friends!
I'm so excited to announce my forthcoming recital on one of America's great Symphonic pipe organs, the 1926 Cyrus H.K. Curtis Sesquicentennial Organ at University of Pennsylvania's 1,260 seat Irvine Auditorium. This program is being sponsored by the Philadelphia Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, and will be the first performance showcasing this landmark 10,731 pipe-instrument since 2004, shortly after it was fully restored by the Austin Organ Company, the original builders of the instrument. Inspired by its vast tonal palette, I have chosen to premier two new transcriptions at this concert, Liszt's compelling Symphonic Poem, "Les Preludes," and Mendelssohn's dramatic "Variations Serieuses", two of the most beloved works in the orchestral and piano repertoire. Please join me for this unique opportunity to hear Philadelphia's second largest instrument on February 20th at 4 o'clock in the afternoon! I look forward to seeing you there!
